January 27, 2012

 This week we have been talking about bears and reading different books that talk about bears.  We have read “Going on a Bear Hunt”, “Big Bear Hug”, and “A Teacher for Bear”.  We have also been singing the songs  “Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear”, “Going on a Bear Hunt”, and “The Cool Bear Hunt”.  Ask your children about these songs.

          During small group we made binoculars in preparation for our bear hunt that we will be doing on Monday.  We have also created our own bear hunts that start at our house and go through make believe places.  We have had a lot of fun talking about bears and will be continuing our bear activities through next week. 

          If your child has not already brought a bear or other stuffed animal to school, please do so. 

Reminders-

Parent/Teacher conferences were last week.  If you did not get a chance to sign up last week, you can give me a time after 1:00 that is convenient for you and we can conference over the phone.

Monday, January 30 we will have a parent meeting.  It will be a pajama party.  We will be doing different activities with you and your child.

Little Scotties News

January 20, 2012

 This week we have been working on rhyming words.  Each day during large group, we thought of a word that rhymed with each child’s name a sang a song about it.  Please continue to practice rhyming words with your child at home.  This week we also made “button pizzas” to work on our math skills, some children worked on one to one correspondence while others worked on adding numbers.  Thursday, we went to the gym to watch the older kids put on a play called “Mulan” which is based on Disney’s Mulan. 

Reminders-

Parent/Teacher conferences are coming up starting Monday of next week.  If you would like to schedule one, please fill out a time on the sheet that was sent home Wednesday and return it to school. 

Friday, January 30 will be Parent/Child night for the preschool children at Highland Elementary.  We will be hosting an activity that night.  More details will follow.
